Objective:
GLE 0201.1.1 Demonstrate control of basic English usage, mechanics, spelling, and sentence structure.
Small group with 5 computers in the classroom
Description: Students will use their creativity to make up a story and use the computer to write and publish their own story through the http://www.storyjumper.com/
website. This will help the students work on basic writing skills and creativity skills. The students will be split up into groups which the teacher will pick prior to class. The students will have to agree and come up with a creativity story and it through http://www.storyjumper.com/. This will be a fun way to learn for the students and also uses creavity behind it!
Before class Preparation Prior to class I will put names at each table so when the students walk in they will find their name and go sit at the table with their groups. I will already have the website pulled up just to take away the fear of a child typing in the wrong things and getting on a sight that is inappropriate. I will leave an instruction sheet on the table of the groups so if they forget or don't understand something they will have them typed and right in front of them. I will also arlready have a story jumper made and show them as an explain before they get started so they know what they are doing.
During Instruction
While students are working on their story I will be walking around the whole time and making sure all groups are staying on task. This will also be to help any groups that are having trouble using the story jumper and I can go around and show them or help them with their problems. I will make a rule that you can't play games on the computers.
Back up Plan:
If the technology fails on me I will have sheets of paper, glue, scissors, markers, cut outs, and other crafty materials for the students to make their own homemade stories instead of on the computer!
